Hein Fourie, Operational Director of Zero Waste Technologies, obtained his Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Pretoria in 1999. With a passion for nature and the environment, he has been working in the water, environmental and waste industries for the past 18 years. He has a practical approach to solving unique waste challenges through commissioning and implementing solutions. Hein started his career in the petrochemical industry and after 4 years moved into the water treatment sector. He spent additional time in the mining and nuclear industry before finding his niche in alternative waste management. Here he acted as Project Manager for various alternatives including anaerobic digestion, waste to energy, and effluent treatment.
Hein has been providing zero waste to landfill solutions to industry for the past 10 years and has been involved in groundbreaking projects such as the certification of Africa’s first zero waste to landfill facility in 2019. He is passionate about finding sustainable solutions and consults with industry on a wide range of topics, with one goal in mind: reducing our impact on the environment in a way that makes sustainable business sense.
Kevin James leads a dedicated team of strategic environmental sustainability and project management experts. He and his team actively support the transformation of large, complex organisations into more responsible and valuable entities by unlocking fast-emerging green economy opportunities.
As a professional with deep experience in strategic corporate sustainability as well as in the development of green, low carbon projects, Kevin and his team have developed sector-leading technology within the design and implementation of business intelligence analytics. Kevin also holds non-executive Directorship in The Green Building Council of South Africa.
Bertie Lourens is the CEO of a number of companies which together employ over 1600 persons, providing specialised waste management services to a wide range of companies across all waste sectors for the past seventeen years.
His ability to understand the market’s demands within a rapidly evolving waste sector, as well as the development and implementation of market-leading solutions in line with international best-practice standards, have resulted in the attainment of “Zero Waste” to landfill for many of his clients. The emphasis placed on innovation, together with the building and retention of high-performance management teams, has been achieved on value-based management principles, and provides the base for further sustainable growth into the future.
