The Elgin Biodigestion facility receives organic waste from numerous sources and converts it into biogas. This biogas is then converted into steam as primary product and electricity as secondary product.

The facility has the capability to accept both liquid and solid organic waste and is equipped by two feeding systems. Packaged waste can also be accepted where it is either depackaged by hand or mechanically. The facility is also unique in that it will now be the first Biogas facility in South Africa that will have a dedicated wheelie bin collection service for food waste.

This facility shows how Zero Waste Technologies have transformed the operational performance of a biogas facility through a successful partnership with the client.
