V&A Waterfront wanted to find sustainable solutions for the waste generated on the precinct. Currently the majority of the waste is being landfilled. With pending legislation prohibiting disposal of organic waste to landfill as well as the large percentage of “non-recyclable” waste generated, V&A wanted to investigate to viability of converting this waste to electricity for their own use
The study found that converting V&A’s landfilled waste into electricity was a sustainable solution and economically viable. Planning is currently underway to initiate the Environmental Impact Assessment of the project
